First annual Big John Manumaleuna Foundation camp at Mater Dei high school. What a great event it was on so many different levels. The foundation would like to thank Mater Dei high school’s AD Phil Bellomo and the school Board for allowing us to hold Big John Manumaleuna Foundation Camp at their great school. We had onhand some great coaches from college, High School and also from the NFL. Special thanks to Lito Soifua for his hard work putting together the coaches and also the camp schedule. We salute both parents and athletes that travel far to attend the camp. Vista Marietta was well represented and so was Moreno Valley. Inland Empire is making a strong case of having their own event. Steve Kajhiro of Island Sports Media and Barry Markowitz of Samoa News were on site to document the whole day of football. Click on Photo Gallery.

Banning High School was the site for Big John Manumaleuna Foundation’s final camp of 2008. Even the overcast weather didn’t effect the excitement in each athlete as they took to the field. The community was out in full support of the Samoan Athletes in Action event returning to the L.A area where Big John originated the clinics back in 1977. The athletes and parents were greeted with great energy from the coaching staff and a few big name guests that took the time to volunteer, TJ Houshmandzadeh (Cincinnati Bengals), Brandon Manumaleuna (SD Chargers), Peter Tuiasosopo(Actor), Morris Unutoa (former Philadelphia Eagles), Frank Manumaleuna (former Kansas City Chief), George Malauulu (AIGA Foundation/Univ of Arizona Alumni), El Camino College Coaching Staff, Banning HS Coaching Staff, Dominique Blackman (University of Washington bound), Richard Helepiko (Fresno State bound) and so many more caring people dedicated their time and talent to the area youth. A special thanks to Hansens for sponsoring this year’s L.A. camp!
